Love, Heartache & Friendship
Love is complicated. Love hurts. Love can be wonderful.
A couple things I know for sure: Jesus offers unconditional love, animals need and offer unconditional love and we must love ourselves.

Lover or Enemy? ©
By: April R. Pierce
I'm lost, not sure where to go
My home is no longer mine
My heart is broken, shattered on the floor
I try to be joyful and positive
I am motivated and determined
Love is now my enemy
Held back by someone I thought I knew
Trapped in these walls
Nowhere to go
I must keep going, I tell myself
Someday, I'll break away
I'll get my wings and fly away
Until then, I'll focus on me
Waiting for the right moment
Rescued Beauty ©
By: April R. Pierce
The darkness
So deep
Lurking quietly
Haunting even in her sleep
Prince charming is here
Rescuing this beauty
Don't you fear my dear
Trying to let go
Wanting to rejoice
Yearning to let love grow
That sparkle in her eyes
Trickling with tears
While her past dies
Letting go of her fears
Claiming what is hers
The bed I made
By: April R. Pierce
I made my bed
I made mistakes
Here I lay and cry
In the bed I made
I made my bed
You are not in it
I pushed you away
Here I lay and cry
In the bed I made
I made my bed
I was scared
I walked away
Here I lay and cry
In the bed I made
I made my bed
In my thoughts
I tell you good night
Here I lay and cry
In the bed I made
Friends Forever ©
By: April R. Pierce
I know that you're broken
I'm broken too
There's something sweet behind that door
Let's not open it yet
Let's be broken together
Let's be lonely together
Let's be best friends
We would be fools to think it would work now
Our attitudes and temperament
Mending our wounds first
That's the healthiest option
Someday the next step will arrive
The timing will be right
We'll feel it in our gut
Until then, friends forever
No judgement, just support
Love is in the air
By: April R. Pierce
You're so beautiful
The way you care
Love is in the air
I just can't control it
I look at you with respect
Something I didn't expect
Mindin' my own business
When you came along
Love is in the air
More than my heart can bare
Mindin' my own business
When you came along
I've waited so long
For love like this
Love is in the air
More than my heart can bare
Nothing can compare
Daydreaming ©
By: April R. Pierce
I saw a falling star
I thought of you
Wishing you would call me yours
But I know better
We'll always only be friends
That's what you tell me
Secretly I dream of more
Daydreaming of our forever
Feelings I can't ignore
I'll accept your friendship
Better than nothing

Sweet Nothings ©

Take it slow baby
Don't rush love
Get to know one another
Love like no other
Whisper sweet nothings
Hold on tight
Smile and laugh like no tomorrow
Take a chance into the night
Go with the flow baby
Set your heart free
Let love grow
I is becoming we
What we have is special
It's time to let love in
Forget about the past
Enjoy the moment
Letting go ©
By: April R. Pierce
I'm a prisoner of my own heart
I wear my feelings on my sleeve
Wishing I didn't
I learn to better myself
I am walking away
Leaving behind the negativity
I'll remember
I'll let go
I'm going to find myself again
I'm going to stand for my rights
I'm strong
I'm fierce
I'm done
There is only room for positivity
Real support
Real people
Real friends
Where I can be the real me
The letdowns make me stronger
The past won't stop me
I'll find myself
Without you

Come into my world
Please come play
Don't walk away
I see you
I see your demons
I see your halo
Just let me hold you
Come into my world
I'll show you around
Take my hand
Don't be afraid
I know it wasn't planned
Love is tricky like that
You captured my heart
I never want to lose you
But our goodbye is destined
I'll love you even when we're apart

Unlovable Woman ©
By: April R. Pierce
Butterflies fly when she hears his voice
Her worries are set aside for a moment
Never wanting to let go
As each day passed she's reminded of her past
The words are etched in that brilliant mind of hers
Unlovable, undeserving, burdensome
When she looks in his eyes she thinks
How lucky am I?
Those old words scream at her,
He doesn't want you...he's out of your league
Nightmares haunt her
Depression plagues her
Wishing she could see what others see in her
She pieces her brokenness back together
Running away is all she knows
Those barriers keep her safe
Why would anyone want to come in?
There's nothing here
In the midst of her internal war
All she wants is to be loved
Yet, not knowing how to receive it
Maybe, one day she'll figure it out
Until then, she'll cherish what was
Until then, she'll remember his words
Until then, she'll keep the dreams alive
Until then, she'll keep him in her heart

The Beautiful Letdown ©
By: April R. Pierce
The Letdown
That moment it's done
Knowing I'm not good enough
The wound stings
Letting go is necessary
Accepting that is hard
The way it all ended
The emotions
The thoughts
Confusion
As it unfolds
I see the mess I created
Picking up the pieces again
Tears fall from my eyes
As I am reminded of what I knew
Never let my guard down
Knowing it was too good to be true
Freedom is what I need
Independence
Embrace being single
Live in the moment
Love life
Find myself again

Broken Promises ©

He told her she’s different
As he gazed in her eyes
He watched her every move
That lustful smirk made her heart beat faster
He told her he will always be there
He would catch her if she fell
Her problems were his, his were hers
Because they were a team
He hesitantly obeyed her boundaries
He took his time
Sometimes he was there
Other days he was absent
The lying became evident
The fallacy resonated with her
She cried herself to sleep
Knowing what he wanted
Believing that was all she had to offer
Even that didn’t keep him
He is gone, not seen again
Only in her dreams
The tears stopped after awhile
She regained her self-worth
She recognized no one can provide that for her
She understands she must value herself,
Before anyone else will
It was sweet while it lasted
Sometimes bitter like black coffee
Letting go was hard
Freeing herself was a great decision
I am different
I am real and raw
I am beautiful inside and out
I am not free for the taking
I am not on the market
I am not merely eye candy
I am meant for someone special
Someone who will treasure me
I will meet my match someday
For now, I choose me
I choose personal growth
I choose self-discovery
I choose life
I choose solitude

Seared Heart ©

When it all seems to be going great
We are swept off our feet
By what appears to be love
We give our heart to the person we trust
We love them with all our being
When the storm arrives
The tidal wave hits
Knocking us off our feet
Trying to understand
Tears flow
The hurt burns our core
The pain sears our heart
The agony drops us to our knees
When the moment it’s so real
That instant we know it’s over
Knowing the goodbye is creeping closer
We recognize it’s time to let go

Surrogate Family ©
By: April R. Pierce
She wanted out of that house
Any reason was sufficient
Love did not reside there
She cried herself to sleep regularly
Wishing and hoping,
To be adopted by her surrogate family
They loved her as their own
Acceptance and love was all she wanted
They provided what her own mother did not
Family outings were had
Cookies were decorated
Strawberries picked
Sleep-overs cherished
She secretly dreaded when it would end
Knowing she would go home
Never telling what transpired there
Mom said never to tell
That family was her saving grace
Planting a seed of Jesus’ love
Making life more bearable
For that she will be forever grateful,
To her best friend and family
Such a special family they are
Thank you – My best friend & all your family

I’m Sorry ©
By: April R. Pierce
I’m sorry,
I’m sorry I’m not who you need me to be
I’m sorry I don’t love you the way you love me
I’m sorry the damage we caused to one another
I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you the way you needed
I’m sorry I had to leave
We had good and bad moments
I’ll remember the good times we had together
I won’t hold onto the bad memories
I’ll let go of the hurt
I wish you the very best
I hope life treats you well
It’s time to move on
